The
News: By Wyatt
Good
day, everyone. Thank you for visiting. What a great Lightning
Fest we had this year! There are so many people that made
this event such a success that I'm afraid I'd leave someone
out if I tried to list them all! The events seemed to all
be flawlessly executed and we managed to raise lots of money
for charity. The hotel accommodations were great and if everyone
had half as much fun as I did, then we all had a great time!
The
$1 sale at the Learning Curve store was awesome! They had
a lot of new stock, multiple releases of Street Freaks, Chevy
Thunder, Mustangs and Fords, Mopar or No Car, Muscle Cars
USA, Firebirds, Gold Series, Coca Cola, and many other sets
and cases. If you were not able to attend, some of the online
dealers picked up cases and are selling at discounts as you
read this!
The
best news is Mark said he will be doing a Lightning Fest in
2007!!! That is the best news I think any of us heard there!
Thanks, Mark!
The
only bad news we received at the fest is the lack of production
of Johnny Lightning cars for the remainder of 2006. Basically,
the last sets of 2006 are available now with the exception
of the Holiday Classics. Maybe that will give us a few months
to fill in any holes in our collections. We will be ready
for 2007, though!
Now,
you ask what we got our greedy little hands on at the fest?
Well, we'll start with the dinner castings. Each bag had a
yellow '65 Chevy fleetside truck, a silver '58 Corvette, and
a various painted sample from various series. Mine was a red
'69 Dart. Other guests received some very unique looking white
tire combinations in there bags. We saw clear plastic blue
wheels, red wheels, white tires, and many other really odd
combinations of cars.
The
other cars available at the fest were the Pink Slip Racer
(PSR), Rocket 500 Racer (R500), Thank You car (TYC), E.T.
Racer car (ETRC), and the Custom Die cast car (CDC). The PSR
and R500 cars were identical to the '58 Corvette Dinner Car,
except the serial number. The TYC, ETRC, and CDC's were all
blue Torino Talladega's originally commissioned by AD-Ventures
for the Apple Blossom festival car. Each had a specific colored
tampo on the roof, red TYC, yellow ETRC, and white CDC.
The
last car available at the fest was the '55 Nomad RC2 had made
for the event. The package was actually made so the Lightning
girls had places to autograph the back of the packages. RC2
was also offering to sell the cars by inner cases of 12 and
for each case purchased, a various red prototype was included.
That's
all I have for now. We are still working to get all of the
new cars pictured here and added to the registry. Check back
from time to time to see our progress. In the meantime, please
email your registration data to jlregistry@rwwcarguy.com
or visit the automated registry page
so we can get your information onto the site for the next
update.
